John William Geers, age 75, of Inverness, died May 12, 2016 under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Inverness. John was born on August 23, 1940 in Sedalia, MO to the late George and Sue (Amfahr) Geers. He was married to his loving wife, Mary, for 42 years until her passing in 2003. Throughout his life, John was employed as a Heat Treat Engineer for Caterpillar Farm Equipment. He resided in Illinois for a number of years before moving to Largo, FL and eventually made Citrus County his home in 2005. John was a Catholic by faith and a fan of all Florida sports teams. He was a member of the Inverness Golf and Country Club and enjoyed golfing in his spare time. John was an excellent bowler and is an honorable member of the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in Aurora, IL. Those left to mourn his passing are his sons: Michael (Shelly) Geers of Garrettsville, OH, Patrick Geers of Floral City, FL, and Phillip Geers of Pinellas County, FL; four grandchildren: Ryan, Adam, Courtney and Katie; five great-grandchildren: Haley, Destiny, Jasmine, Gage and Dylan; and his aunt: Roselynn Utech of Ponco City, OK. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, May 16, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, with Father Erwin Belgica of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
