James A. Stastny, Jr., 85, of Inverness, FL passed away May 11, 2016 at his residence in Inverness. He was born in Chicago, IL on January 8, 1931 to the late James A. and Ellen “Alice” (Mladek) Stastny. James was a Masonary in the construction industry, and worked with stone, brick, and all types of materials. He lived most of his life in Illinois, and arrived in this area in 1996, coming from Juniper Springs Recreation Area in the Ocala area. He enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, country music and dancing, and outdoor recreation. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Stastny in 1989; also one daughter, Catherine Cremens; and two step-sons, Michael and Steve Sanford. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Joyce (Sanford) Stastny. Other survivors include his children James Michael (Val) Stastny of Lisle, IL, and Barbara Tanner of Downers Grove, Ill; step children Thomas Allen Sanford of Wilmington, IL and Ellen (Don) Theobald of Plainfield, IL; brother Frank Stastny of CA; and step sister Anne Beth Wolfe of Madison, WI; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for James will be scheduled in Illinois at a later date. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, is assisting the family with arrangements.
