Dolores Lawton, age 83, of Inverness, FL, died May 7, 2016 under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Inverness. Dolores was born on August 1, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Mary (Dimisko) Walthers.
She was married to her loving husband Henry Lawton for 51 years until his passing on August 14, 2002. In 1988, Dolores and Henry made Citrus County their home after relocating from Islip, NY. In her spare time, she loved to read and do crafts. Dolores also enjoyed crocheting and knitting for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While living in New York, every Saturday she would board a charter boat and go deep sea fishing, something she loved to do.
Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her four sons: Gary (Anne) Lawton of Hernando, FL, Denis (Karen) Lawton of Lake City, FL, Ronald (Mary Ann) Lawton of Bellport, NY, and Steven Lawton of Inverness, FL; her sister: Esther (Sal) Sesito of Latham, NY; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ada Sanger; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Henry, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, John Walthers and her grandson, Michael Lawton.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Kell of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness conducting. Interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
