Tandy Lee Wood, age 85, of Hernando, FL, died on February 23, 2016. Tandy was born on November 3, 1930 in Olcott, WV, to the late Roma and Ruby (Cash) Wood.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Tandy relocated with his family from Ravenswood, WV to Florida in 1985. In his spare time he loved to fish. Tandy also enjoyed a good game of golf as well as spending precious time with his grandchildren. He was a generous, caring and kind man, with a big heart. Tandy would go out of his way to help families in need and was a supporter of St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are three sons, Steve (Linda) Wood, Kenneth Wood of Hernando, FL, Kevin (Lori A.) Wood of Ravenswood, W.V.; two daughters, Rebecca Wood of Hernando, FL, Toni (Lester) Buzzard of Leon, W.V.; one sister, Donna Moore of Leon, W.V.; eight grandchildren, S. Michael Wood, Lori K. Wood, Nicholas L. Wood, Cory L. Wood, Briana M. Tribett, Jonathan T. Wood, Tandi L. Tribett, Zachary T. Wood; and one great-grandson, Coby Rand. He will also be missed by his special furry friend, Oliver. He was preceded in death by Lucille, his loving wife of over 47 years.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness with Jeff Wood and Rick Davis officiating. Internment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with Hernando VFW Post #4252 Honor Guard rendering military honors. The family will receive friends in visitation at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Tandy’s memory.
