Robert A. Mitchell, Jr., 79 of Floral City, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 under the loving care of his wife, at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto. Born in Wellsburg, West Virginia, he came her in 1992 from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Mr Mitchell retired from the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the St. Petersburg American Legion Post #14 for 39 years. Robert was also a ham radio operator, enjoyed woodworking and had his own wood work shop, was a handyman around his home.
He met his best friend and partner in life, Brenda in 1968 in Miami Beach. After their marriage in 1972 they lived in Coral Gables prior to moving to St. Petersburg in 1975.
A memorial service for Robert will take place later in Canada. He will be intered at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
