Donald L. Payne, age 83, of Hernando, FL, died February 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on June 20, 1932 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Doyle and Martha (Hollinsworth) Payne. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. On September 5, 1952, Donald married Janet P. Silva, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He was a man of faith and a member of the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church, Lecanto. Donald was involved with the church’s Disaster Response Team and had donated much of his time and effort to the Gulf Coast area after Hurricane Katrina. He was also a neighboorhood watch volunteer for the Citrus County Sherriff’s Office. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed geocaching, traveling and bowling. He also liked building and constructing things. In addition to his loving wife, Janet, others left to mourn Donald’s passing and cherish his memory are his son: Dale (Mary) Payne of Sunrise, FL; his daughters: Linda (Henry) Arnold of Eden Valley, MN and Debra (Don) Owsley of Deltona, FL; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness with Pastor Chad Townsley of the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
