Alfred “Bud” Warner Williams, age 89, of Inverness, FL, died February 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of the staff of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Bud was born on September 24, 1926 in Mt. Jackson, VA to the late Leonard and Maude (Fadley) Williams.
On June 23, 1946, he married Mary Goodwin, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Earlier in his life, Bud worked at Hercules Powder Company (ABL) as a welder but, eventually he was employed as an airline mechanic for Eastern Airlines where he worked for over 20 years. In 1991, he and Mary relocated to Inverness from Hollywood, FL.
A man of faith, Bud was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Inverness. He loved the game of golf. He even had the opportunity to Marshall for many of the Eastern Airlines PGA golf tournaments at the Doral Country Club in the 70’s.
Bud also had a very artistic side and expressed his creativity through woodworking. Bud enjoyed good food and a good meal shared with family and friends. He was a dedicated family man. A protective and loving husband and a devoted and caring father.
In addition to his wife Mary, those left to mourn Bud’s passing and cherish his precious memory are his daughter, Marcia Williams Scaggs and her husband, Larry of Inverness, FL; and one grandson, Douglas William Scaggs of Raleigh, NC. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be offered on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, with Pastor Dairold Rushing of the First Assembly of God Church, Inverness officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
