Adrian T. Gilmore, Jr., age 91, of Inverness, FL, died February 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Adrian was born October 4, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to the late Ehel (Cook) and Adrian Gilmore, Sr.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946. Adrian was a World War II Veteran and was deployed to Normandy, France but also served in Luxembourg and Belgium. After his military service, Adrian went on to attend Cornell University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture. He continued at Cornell University in a teaching capacity and taught individuals from all over the world agricultural skills that they could take and utilize in their home countries. Adrian was a dedicated farmer throughout his life. On the rare occasion that he was able to take a vacation, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. After his retirement, Adrian spent his time making wooden children’s toys and donating them to children’s hospitals.

Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Judith M. Meaney of Crystal River, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean in April of 2009. Mr. Gilmore’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
