John “Jack” V. McCrave

John V. “Jack” McCrave, 78, Inverness passed away suddenly at home on Jan 22, 2016. Mr. McCrave was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 21, 1937 to the late John J. and Josephine (Griffin) McCrave.

He moved to Florida in 1979 from Staten Island. He retired from the construction industry as a general contractor, having built several homes in this area. Jack served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was active in the Hernando Sportsmens Club, having founded the Quick Draw organization and was a member of the SASS Society. He also enjoyed martial arts as a member of the VADHA Federation and held the title of MAHa Master for the United States.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Packer) McCrave; five children, Jack (Teresa) McCrave, Cumming, GA; Teresa McCrave, Jacksonville, FL; Sharon (Brian) Reed, Inverness; Rory (Carla) McCrave, Kansas City, Kansas; Vincent McCrave, Inverness, FL; 10 grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, Jan. 29th at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.
