Carl S Steelfox

Carl Samuel Steelfox, 84, of Inverness, FL, died January 18, 2016 in Inverness. Carl was born October 5, 1931 in Butler Township, PA to the late John Samuel and Thelma (Romberger) Steelfox.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. On October 25, 1952, Carl married the love of his life, Joan Dufresne, with whom he shared over 58 wonderful years of marriage. In 1972, they relocated to Citrus County from Middlebury, CT.

Carl was a founding member of the Middlebury, CT Rifle Club and a member of the Algonquin Archery Club. After relocating to Inverness, he owned and operated CJ’s Hobbies and Crafts for many years. Carl was also a member of the Inverness Moose Lodge and the Citrus County RC Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, building RC airplanes and model trains.

Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are four sons: David (Janet) Steelfox of Las Vegas, NV, Carl (Susan) Steelfox of Inverness, FL, John (Theresa) Steelfox of Hernando, FL and Donald (Margaret) Steelfox of Beverly Hills, FL; his daughter, Karen (Phillip) Rook of Inverness, FL; sister, Sandra (Larry) Bosca of White Lake, MI; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Joan, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Shuda.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 23, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness, at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Greg Kell officiating. A graveside service with full military honors provided by Inverness VFW Post #4337 will be held Monday, January 25, 9:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
