Maria E. Gallardo, 76, of Inverness, FL, died on January 9, 2016 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of the staff of Citrus Memorial Hospital. Maria was born on January 13, 1939 in Weslaco, TX to the late Roberto and Rita (Supulveda) Rivera.
A Catholic by faith, she was a deeply religious woman and formerly a member of the St. Joan of Ark Catholic Church in Weslaco, TX. Maria was a wonderful and loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family and others.
After she and her husband, Antonio, became “empty-nesters”, they rediscovered life. Maria enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, taking vacations and shopping. She was always on the go and tried to live life to its fullest each and everyday.
Those who will treasure her memory and mourn her passing are her husband, Antonio; two sons, Antonio Gallardo, Jr. of Orlando, FL and Roland Gallardo of Maumee, OH; two daughters, Amelia “Mally” Simmons of Boise, ID and Delia “Darlene” Gallardo of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Roberto Rivera of Salt Lake City, UT and Ruben Rivera of San Antonio, TX; and one grandchild.
A service will take place at a later date from Hawkins Funeral Home, Weslaco, TX. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with local arrangements.
