Iris M. Colon

Iris M. Colon, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2015 at Citrus Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. Iris was born on November 30, 1940 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Jose and Julia (Ferrer) Camacho.

She had a great love for Florida and relocated to Inverness six months ago from Suffern, NY. After her arrival in Florida, Iris became a member of the Spanish American Club of Inverness. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and knitting. Iris was also a huge fan of Kenny Rogers as well as Tom Jones, whom she had an opportunity to see perform in Las Vegas, NV.

She will be remembered as a loving, caring woman and a great mother to her children. Left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her three sons, Joe Colon of Bradenton, FL, Carlos (Fabiana) Torres of Peekskill, NY, Henry Colon of Pamona, NY; two brothers, Eduardo Cortes and Victor Santos; two sisters, Virginia Villafane and Carmen Megloudis; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life and Wake Vigil service will be offered Tuesday, December 15, 3:00 p.m. at The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. Father Avelino Garcia of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
