John Livingstone Harper, age 88, Inverness, died on November 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of the staff of Arbor Trail Rehabilitation Facility. John was born on August 20, 1927 to the late Alexander and Annie (Livingstone) Harper in Brooklyn, NY.
He worked for the postal service for a number of years and was also a steam fitter in the construction industry. In 1949, John married Clarice Murray with whom he shared 60 plus years of marriage and had three children. He had lived in the Citrus County area for 45 years after relocating here from Brooklyn, NY. John was a member of the Inverness VFW Post #4337 as well as the Masonic Lodge. He was a very generous and giving man, and he volunteered much of his time to Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross.
Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his daughters, Ann Lukin (Mark) of Margaretville, NY and Patricia Terwilleger (Walter) of Brooklyn, NY; sisters, Laura Meyers of Summerfield, FL and Helen Harper of Long Island, NY; eight grandchildren and seven great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Clarice; daughter, Susan Cassella; and son, Duncan Harper.
A memorial service celebrating John’s life is being planned for a later date at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, FL.
