Sylvia Elaine Lewis, age 77, Inverness, died October 18, 2015 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County staff. Sylvia was born on April 7, 1938 in New York City, NY to the late Booker and Sylvia (Farrell) Johnson. She was lovingly raised by a stepfather, David Waldron.
Sylvia was a Licensed Practical Nurse, working both in hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed singing jazz, participating in her church choir, gardening, photography, bowling and socializing with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 11 years, James F. Lewis, daughters Jannelle Powlett, Inverness and Semia Powlett, New York City, NY; stepsons Michael Lewis, CA and James (Tammy) Lewis, MI; sister-in-law, Minnie Brown, Coram, NY, grandchildren Kylia, Jordan, Safiya and Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Johnson.
A tribute to Sylvia’s life will be announced at a later date. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
