Charles R. “Slim” Budd, Sr., age 76, of Hernando, died October 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family members and under the care of Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast.. Charlie was born on June 22, 1939 in Columbus, OH to the late Earl C. and Helen May (Marcilliotte) Budd.

Slim moved here in 1995 from Columbus, OH. He served our country in the United States Army. He was an elevator/escalator mechanic, working for International Union of Elevator Contracts, Local 37 in Columbus, OH for 28 years.

He was an avid drag racer for 20 years and an official of the National Hot Rod Association for over 30 years.

Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 41 years, Audrey Andersen Budd; four sons Charles R. Budd, Jr and wife, Tina of Grove City, OH; James Budd and wife Marilyn of Grove City, OH; Scott Budd and wife Allison of Columbus, OH, Kevin Owen and wife Gail of Carroll, OH; his daughter Tracie Evans and husband Edward of Mechanicsburg, OH; one sister, Shirley Casperson of Grove City, OH; 12 grandchildren, 20 1/2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Collette Budd.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 at 6:00 PM from The Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Charles Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested by Hospice of Citrus & Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464
