GERALDINE “GERRY” VOLD, age 86, Inverness, died October 7, 2015 under the loving care of her family and the staff of the Brentwood Care Center, Lecanto and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Geraldine was born on January 8, 1929 in Petucia Island, FL to the late Levi and Ada (Scarborough) Haggard.
She was employed as a Southern Bell telephone operator in Fort Pierce, FL for 30 years. In 1987, after retirement, she moved to Citrus County. In her spare time, Geraldine enjoyed reading, watching television and spending time with her precious grandchildren. She also loved and attended the Hernando Church of the Nazarene.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her daughter, Donna Kendall of Inverness; two grandchildren, Pete and Jeremiah Kendall; and three great grandchildren, Kalvin Kendall, Ty Kendall and Hayleigh Turner. She is preceded in death by her son, Martin Vold; her brother, Leamon Haggard; and two sisters, Catherine Butler and Mary McCray.
A service to celebrate Geraldine’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, with Pastor Nancy Johnson, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 pm until service time.
