John L Becker

John L. Becker, 89, Inverness passed away Sept 27, 2015 under the care of Citrus Hospice & The Nature Coast in their Inverness facility. John was born on Feb 21, 1926 in Richmond Hill, NY to the late Leonard and Edna (Miller) Becker and moved to this area in 1977 from College Park Maryland.

He was a retired law enforcement officer, having retired from the Washington, DC Police Dept with over 20 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Inverness and served our country during WW II in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Retired Police Officers Association in D.C., Nature Coast Carving Club, and an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Wilson) Becker; four children, Paul Becker and wife, Dorothy of Ephrata, PA; Pauline Apperson and husband, Steven of Avon Park, FL; Peggy Becker and husband, Larry of Lothian, Maryland; Bonnie Mills and husband Scott of Floral City; his sister, Florence Pilkington of Danbury, CT; 5 grand and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Natalie Becker on Sept 7, 1990 and his son, Philip in 2006.

Private burial will be in Florida National Cemetery on Oct 1, 2015. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be conducted Sat. Oct 3rd , 3:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev.
