Henry P. Ward, Jr.(Maj. USAF, Retired), age 77, Floral City, died August 11, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and Nature Coast. Henry was born on October 15, 1937 in Coleman, SC to the late Henry P. Ward, Sr. and Elizabeth (Pope) Ward. Henry proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, working as a nuclear physicist, serving 22 years and retiring with the rank of Major. He served at The Pentagon as well as at Air Force bases in Texas and California. Henry then was employed at Honeywell as a nuclear physicist after his retirement from the military. He was an avid pilot and owned his own plane. He enjoyed golfing and was a gemstone cutter, making beautiful gifts for family and friends. He was a loving and caring man, taking care of elderly family members and his grandchildren, along with his wife when they were unable to live alone.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, Patricia Ward, Floral City; his son Jeffrey Ware; grandchildren Nahla Ware, Joshua Ware and Julissa Ware; cousins Mary Beth Barawley and Paul Sider, both of Georgetown, SC.
A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery. The family invites friends to join the funeral procession to the cemetery at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory at 1:45 PM. Donations in Henry’s memory are requested to Disabled American Veterans, 1039 N. Paul Drive, lnverness, FL 34452 in lieu of flowers.
