Antonio Benoya, age 78, Inverness, died June 24, 2015 under the loving care of his family and the staff of Hospice of Citrus and Nature Coast. Antonio was born on October 15, 1936 in Barcelona, Spain to the late Carlos and Encarnacion (Ceballos) Benoya. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps and was a passionate Marine throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed bowling, drawing and painting and working in his yard and garden. A social and outgoing person, he would liven up any gathering with jokes and stories. Antonio was a member of the Spanish-American Club and the Marine Corps League. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by the many who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Barbara Benoya; daughters Bridget Eguiluz, Miami, FL and Lisa Elmore, Fayetteville, NC; his sister Pepita Ceballos, Barcelona, Spain; grandchildren Kerri Gregory, Chris (Melody) Elmore, Nicholas Eguiluz, Elissa Eguiluz and great-grandson Ty Gregory. A celebration and tribute to Antonio’s life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. The family will receive friends in visitation from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Florida National Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations in Antonio’s memory to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in lieu of flowers.
