SAM A. GIST, JR., age 90, Inverness, died June 11, 2015 at his residence. Sam was born on January 11, 1925 in Baldwin,MS to the late Sam A. Gist, Sr. and Grace (Russell) Gist. Sam served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He started his working career as a long distance truck driver after which he was a real estate agent and finally retired after owning Gist R.V. Sales in Inverness. Sam was an accomplished fisherman and golfer. He was an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 in Wayne, MI. Sam was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Jerry Wayne (Cynthia) Gist, Jacksonville, FL and W. Donald Gist, St. Charles, MO; his brothers Bill (Joan) Gist, MS and Charles (Denise) Gist, Inverness; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Mary Madge Gist and his second wife of 22 years, LaVerne Gist. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral. Burial will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills with military honors. The family will receive friends in visitation on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
