Lawrence L. Taggart, 75, Inverness passed away May 9, 2015 at Citrus Hills Health & Rehab. Mr. Taggart was born in Bronx, New York on September 23, 1939 to the late Robert W. and Marjorie (Graef) Taggart and moved to this area in 1974 from California. He retired from the State of Florida as a Corrections Officer and served our country in the Armed Forces for 24 years, 15 of which were in the United States Marines Corps and 9 with the National Guard from which he retired. While in the Marines, he served in Vietnam.

His affiliations included the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Marine Corps League Citrus Detachment #1139, Citrus County MOPAR, VFW Post 7122 , Fleet Reserve Branch 186, and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Auxiliary.

He is survived by three children, Larry Taggart and wife Renee of Junction City, Kansas; Tammy Schneck and husband Frank of Corinth, Texas; Lori Lane and husband Jim of Inverness; his brother, Robert W. Taggart of Inglis, FL; four sisters, Barbara Taggart, Michigan; Janet Sparks, Spring Hill, FL; Susan Frietas, Chiefland, FL; Dorothy Hennick, Gainesville, FL; five grandchildren, Amanda and Samantha Schneck, Kyle and Jacob Lane, and Riley Taggert. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Kay.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home on Friday, May 15th at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Greg Kell officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
