GERMAINE J. DEWEY, 98, has been reunited with God in Heaven and most of her family on May 9, 2015, after a long journey on earth. Germaine was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Rose (Melancon) Lavallee. Germaine is survived by her son Joseph of Hernando, FL and her daughter Susan (Dewey) Deslongchamps of Hernando, FL, Warren and Bernardston, MA. She also leaves two granddaughters, Samantha Deslongchamps of Millbury, MA and Amelia Deslongchamps of Brooklyn, NY, two great granddaughters Chelsea Goodrich of El Paso, TX and Kirstin Goodrich of Ware, and was soon to have a great-great grandchild. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In 1994 she was predeceased by her only grandson Aaron Deslongchamps of Warren, MA. In 2007 she was predeceased by her estranged husband Burton E. Dewey. She was also predeceased by her sisters M. Anita (Lavallee) Fielding and Bernadette (Lavallee, Dupsha) King. Born in Springfield, MA on December 29, 1916 and raised in Springfield, MA, later moving to Ware, MA and Warren, MA but living most of her life in Palmer, MA and most recently living in Inverness, FL near her son and daughter. Gerry graduated from Baypath College and worked at Warren Pumps during WWII. Later she moved to Palmer and was employed by the Palmer National Bank for many years and Monson Developmental Center from which she retired in 1981. Gerry was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Palmer for many years and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Germaine was a quiet person and enjoyed many hours doing crossword puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed traveling with close friends and her sisters on many short trips throughout New England. In accordance with Germaine’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be said for Gerry at a later date at St. Thomas the Apostle in Palmer, MA. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Warren, MA and will be at the discretion of the family. Should family or friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to New Horizon Senior Living, 1745 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL, 34453, where Gerry spent her later years living care free. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family.
