Arthur Harold Lemieux, 91, Inverness, FL, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Artie was born in West Quincy, MA to George and Edith Higgins Lemieux on October 15, 1923. In 1978 he moved with his family from Holbrook, MA to Inverness, FL. Artie is the longest surviving active member in the world of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA.) Artie joined Barbershop in 1943 and sang for over 72 years. He also founded the Citrus County Chapter, Chorus of the Highlands. Artie was a member of Manet Lodge, where he was a Past Master. Most of the Inverness community will remember Artie for the perpetual calenders he made and sold at craft shows for over 25 years. On May 13, 1967, he married Janet Smith. Together, they have four children; Richard (Jasen), Jeff, Brian (Lauren) and Jennifer; four grandsons, Dalton, Alexander, Atticus and Oliver and two granddaughters, Rachael and Sabrina; one brother-in-law Albert P. Colasanti and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his six siblings; Clara, George, Edith, Malcolm, Elva and Lillian. Artie will always be remembered for his devotion to his beloved wife of 48 years, his love not only for his children but all kids he encountered, his joy for singing and his magnetic personality towards all who met him. A celebration of Artie’s life will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
