Walter Eugene Rudd, 83 Inverness passed away at home on May 1, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus Co and The Nature Coast. Walter was born on March 6, 1932 in Tyler, TX to the late Thomas and Isla (Rayford) Rudd and moved to this area in 1987 from California. He was a retired engineer from Lockheed Space & Missiles and served our country in the U.S. Navy. Walter designed the Gulf War Monument that is located on the square of the old court house in Inverness and was a part of starting the “Adopt a Highway” program in Citrus County, along with the late Jerry Clark. He was also a publisher and author and a member of the Inverness VFW Post #4337, serving as the Adjutant for many years. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Wimpy) Rudd, Inverness; 3 sons, Jeffrey (Dianna) Rudd of Oregon; Scott (Nancy) Rudd of Lompoc, CA; Russell (Michelle) Novak of Kenneth City, FL; 3 daughters, Jill Biggs of Livermore, CA; Susan Rudd of Lompoc, CA and Renee (Phillip) Popp, Ocala, FL; 1 brother, Gerry (Lynn) Rudd of Tyler, TX; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Following cremation, military graveside honors will be rendered at the Florida National Cemetery on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:30 AM by the Inverness VFW Post #4337.
