Nina Senkiw

NINA SENKIW, age 92, Inverness, died April 10, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Citrus and Nature Coast. Nina was born in Yugoslavia on August 12, 1922 to the late Gabriel and Maria (Sosova) Abramzova. She was a homemaker and devout member of the Protection of Holy Mother of God Ukranian Orthodox Church in Dover, FL and of St. Raphael’s Orthodox Church in Hernando. Nina enjoyed reading, studying history, especially that of the Ukraine and was fluent in five languages. She loved music and telling stories of her life. Left to cherish her memory is her son James (Wife-Sheryl) Senkiw, Minneapolis, MN; her daughter Janice (Husband-Gerald) Gearhart, Crystal River, FL; sister Raissa Podolak; a dear friend Margaret Taylor; five grandchildren Matthew, Thomas, Nina, James and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Michael Senkiw. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. Friends are invited to greet the family in visitation from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Memorial donations to St. Raphael’s Orthodox Church in Nina’s honor are requested in lieu of flowers.
