Frances Louise Davis, aged 85 passed away quietly in the early morning hours of February 8th in the arms of her faithful and loving husband of 67 years, Alton “Jack” Davis. Frances was born November 2nd 1929 in Washington D.C. to parents Myrtle White and Francis Walsh. “Frannie”, “Grams” or “Grandma” was so very loved by all who knew her. Frances was mother to five devoted children, Francis Davis, Barbara Pinkston, Alton Davis Jr., Robert Davis and Deanna Davis (deceased). In addition to her husband Alton, and grown children, Frances is also survived by her heartbroken grandchildren Derek Davis, Dwayne Davis, Francis “Skeeter” Davis, Nicole Davis, Ian Kaminski, DeSheri Davis, Kyle Davis, Jessie Kaminski, and Vincent Davis and her collective 18 great grandchildren. Despite raising up five children, she managed to keep an active community presence volunteering for the Hollywood Teen Club in College Park, Maryland, in addition to an active presence with the College Park Boys Club. Frances accrued over ten years as a volunteer at Floral City Elementary in Floral City, Florida including receiving the prestigious accolade as volunteer of the year. Frances was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Floral City Fire Department. She was a member of the local Inverness TOPS organization for many years, encouraging other women to work to maintain healthy eating and exercise habits, even graduating to KOPS level for years of maintained health. “Grams” loved a good joke, she loved to tease, and she loved to laugh. She also was a die hard Washington Redskins fan. Frances could be seen waving beside Jack tooling around in their Model A, as they were members of the Inverness Model A club from 2002. Although Cooking wasn’t her greatest gift, every now and then could turn out a mean Maryland style crab cake and a darn fine 10 pounds of potato salad. She loved music, spinning old records while she and the neighbors would play “Penny Ante Poker” while sipping on “Pink Squirrels” and telling stories. Her favorites were Show tunes, Frank Sinatra and most of all the legend that was Englebert Humperdink as she was a proud member of his fan club. A celebration of the life of Frances Davis for family, friends old and new will be held at the Davis Family residence in Inverness on February 14th at 1:00 pm, please call 352-341-0253 for more information. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make a donation to Hospice of Citrus County in Frances Davis’s name: www.hospiceofcitruscounty.org or the Alzheimer’s Family Organization [email protected]. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
