Norman (Sonny) Shimer

NORMAN W. “SONNY” SHIMER, age 69, Lake Panasoffkee, died February 3, 2015 under the care of his loving wife, friends and Hospice of Citrus County. Sonny was born on September 14, 1945 in Macungie, PA to the late Norman and Eleanor (Fritz) Shimer. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. Sonny was a founding member of the IRRU club in Inverness. He enjoyed socializing with his friends. He loved being on the water, scalloping and fishing and was a fan of going on cruises. Sonny was employed as a truck driver for Cemex for over 10 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW 10084 in Lake Panasoffkee. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Robbin. He will be deeply missed by his friends at the IRRU and the VFW. A celebration and tribute to Sonny’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 and Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the IRRU Club in Inverness. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with private arrangements.
