LESLIE DAVID SCARBOROUGH, age 74, Beverly Hills, died January 18, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. David was born on February 19, 1940 in Corsicana, TX to the late John H. and Lois (Tapscott) Scarborough. He served our country with honor and distinction for 31 years in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. His career encompassed service from the enlisted rank of airman recruit to his retirement rank of Lieutenant Commander. His service included 21 years of U.S. Navy duty service on board 6 U.S. Naval Aircraft carriers, VP-16 Squadron in Iceland, as well as joint service special ops intelligence commands at Norfolk, VA and McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. His 10 years of service while in the U.S. Army began with his commisioning as an officer while graduating OCS Ft. Benning, GA. His Army tours of duty included 7 Vietnam campaigns while serving within the Army intelligence community as well as serving as a Brigade Commander for the 163rd military intelligence battalion, Ft. Hood, TX. David enjoyed 1955-1957 Thunderbird cars, fishing, traveling, R.V.’s, lotteries and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and high school sweetheart of 60 years, Maxine Scarborough; sons Michael D. and his wife Lisa Scarborough, Bremerton, WA and Ronald P. Scarborough, Crossville, TN; daughter Kathrine L. Wiley, Floral City; sisters Lois (Ron) Schirck, Fort Worth, TX, Lorna Kelley, Pensacola, FL and Elizabeth Scarborough, San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Michael, Brandy, Drew, Mallorie and Russell. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Phillip Scarborough. David will be dearly missed by all who knew him and by those whose lives he touched throughout his long and distinguished military career. A Graveside military service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family invites guests to join them in visitation from 1:00 PM until the procession departs for the cemetery at 2:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness.
