Gloria Rhoads Longacre Young, 87, of Inverness, Florida passed away December 26, 2014 at Hospice of Citrus County, Inverness. She was born in North Coventry Township, Chester County, PA to the late Charles W. and Gladys (McLaughlin) Rhoads. She attended Pottstown High School in Pottstown, PA, and Powers School of Modeling in Philadelphia, PA, and was employed by Bonwit Teller, John Wanamaker Stores, and the St. Petersburg Times. Gloria arrived in this area in 1979, and had previously resided in Pottstown, Norristown, and Creamery, PA. She had an enormous love of cooking, needlepoint, card games and church activities, and was a member of First Lutheran Church of Inverness. She was preceded in death by husbands Earl J. Young in 2010, and Dr. John C. Longacre in 2012. She was also preceded by brother Charles W. Rhoads II, sisters Madeleine Rhoads and Elizabeth Uneberg, step-son Christopher Young and nephew Jan Uneberg. Survivors include children Christine (Ron) Rycek of Collegeville, PA, John C. (Cindy) Longacre of Lecanto, FL, and Laurie Young Bick of Wilmington, DL; grandchildren Courtney, Bethany, Parker, and Charles; great-grandchild Sophia; nephews Peter, Charles, Clay, Thomas, and niece Diane. A Celebration of Gloria’s life is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 10:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Inverness, with a reception for family and friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either First Lutheran Church in Inverness, or Hospice of Citrus County. Arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
