Leo E. Wohlgemuth, 95, of Inverness, Florida passed away December 16, 2014 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. He was born on October 13, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Carl and Anna Wohlgemuth. Leo was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, and during WWII he was the NCOIC of a mobile radar division where he elevated to the rank to Tech Sergeant (E-7) in under 5 years. After the war, he returned to the photo engraving department of the Philadelphia Bulletin where he served out his working career in the newspaper industry. He retired in 1982 and relocated from Medford, New Jersey to Inverness, Florida in 1984. Leo was a man of great intellect! He had an amazing memory and keen sense of humor. His passions were gardening and woodworking. He was preceded in death by daughter Patricia; and 3 brothers, Charles, William, and Edward; and one sister Anne. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Wohlgemuth. Other survivors include daughters Jane (Mark) Oshefsky of Charlotte, N.C., and Janet (Michael) Burnett of Brandon, FL; Elizabeth Fawcett; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Truly a man of high character and morals, Leo loved his country, wife, family… and baseball. Private arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude’s or Shriner’s Hospital would be appreciated.
