Mont Eugene “Steve” Stephens, 79, of Inverness, Florida passed away December 14, 2014 at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL. He was born on November 8, 1935 in Akron, OH to the late Mont and Gladys Stephens. Steve was a retired Petty Officer First Class in the U.S. Navy, and a protestant by faith. Steve arrived in this area in 1978, coming from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He enjoyed ballroom and country and western dancing, and loved being involved with his niece’s sporting events. Steve was also a big Miami Dolphins fan. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Marion, Dewayne, and Jerry; and one sister, Doris. Survivors include son Michael (Joelle) Stephens of Marysville, WA; brother Paul Stephens; 2 grandchildren, Tamitha, and Megan; and 5 “grandpuppies”, Sasha, Nakita, Kolya, Nika, and Ana. The family will be receiving friends in visitation on Saturday, December 27, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL. Services will be held Sunday, 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home, Pastor David Lucas officiating, with Military Honor services afterwards. Steve’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date.
