AUSTON PARKER, age 83, Inverness, died December 12, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Auston was born on April 11, 1931 in Roopville, GA to the late Benjamin and Olivia (Smith) Parker. He served our county in the United States Army Air Corp during the Korean conflict, serving in Korea for 9 months, and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star. Auston was employed by John Sessa Bulldozing Company as a heavy equipment operator and foreman. On April 24, 1953 he married June Eileen Travis in Charlton Co, GA. Auston enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. An avid outdoorsman, he liked hunting, fishing and airboating. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, June Parker; his children Vivian Wagner, Jacksonville, FL, Debra (Boe) Brown, Live Oak, FL, Shirley Certain, Inverness, Sandra (Rick) Swilley, High Springs, FL, Carolyn (Bruce, Sr.) Boardman, Inverness, Annette Fratello, Pompano Beach, FL and Michael Parker, Fort Lauderdale. He is also survived by a brother J.L. Parker, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. A Funeral Service of Remembrance and Tribute to Auston’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends in visitation from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
