KATHLEEN R. (GAVIN) O’CONNOR, age 82, Inverness, passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2014 under the loving care of her family and the staff of Citrus Health and Rehab. Kathleen was born in County Cork, Ireland on October 12, 1932 to the late Michael Gavin and Mary Kate (Clines) Gavin. Throughout her life, Kathleen balanced being an active mother and caregiver, to managing a successful career while always giving her time to numerous charities and church functions. She retired as a logistics analyst for a lumber and building products transportation company in Connecticut. Kathleen loved to play golf  winning numerous designations in her Citrus Hills league over the years. She was an avid reader, knitter, and loved needle point. Kathleen had a great voice and was passionate about music. She could always be counted on to know the words to just about every Irish song written. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, served as board president and was a choir member. Left to cherish her memory is her son Martin W. and his wife Susan O’Connor, Sherman, CT; her daughter Laura and her husband Scott Hanson, Manchester, CT; her daughter-in-law Andra O’Connor, Myrtle Beach, SC; brother Ben and his wife Sheila Gavin, Longs, SC and four grandchildren, James O’Connor, Matthew O’Connor, David Hanson and Matthew Hanson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Augustus Leo O’Connor, Sr.; a son Augustus Leo O’Connor, Jr; brothers Frank and Michael Gavin and sisters Anne Taylor and Mary Flynn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the Aurora Foundation, P.O. Box 271035, West Hartford, CT 06127, in lieu of flowers. Aurora is the only women and girls fund exclusively focused on the needs of women and girls in Hartford, CT.
