George C McGuigan

GEORGE C. McGUIGAN Jr. , 77, of Hernando, Florida passed away peacefully in his home on October 22, 2014. George was born in Washington, DC on February 9, 1937 to Louise and Chester McGuigan. He attended St. Theresa’s, Arch Bishop Neal, Lackey High School with further education at The Catholic University. A dedicated family man, George C. McGuigan Jr. married Susan C. Williams in 1987 and together they familied 5 adult children for 27 years. They are Mary Kaye Haynes, George C. McGuigan III, Donna Marie McGuigan, Douglas Allen McGuigan and Connie Louise Jacobs. George was a very respected Supervisor for Giant Food Stores for 37 years. He also owned 2 Grocery Stores and The Cellar Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia. Golf was his hobby, he was very proud of his hole in one shot. You could often find George on his golf cart, driving his dog Callie, all around Citrus Hills. Basketball was a favorite sport of George’s. In 1958, he was the head Basketball Coach for Arch Bishop Neal. George was also a proud member of St. Mary’s Star of The Sea and St. Scholastica Parishes, Knight of Columbus 3rd Degree St. Scholastica Chaper, member Nocturnal Adoration Society, President Gyro Club of Sarasota, Florida and Lt. Governor of Gyro International. George is survived by his wife Susan, 5 children, Mary Kaye, George, Donna, Doug and Connie; Sons-in-law Bill Haynes and Kevin Jacobs, Daughter-in-law Martha Longworth McGuigan; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; Sister Barbara McGuigan Carrier and was predeceased by Mother to his children, Peggy Faye Rickett, Son Michael Thomas McGuigan, Brother William Thomas McGuigan, Mother and Father Elizabeth Louise Bailey and George Chester McGuigan, Sr. But, foremost, he was dedicated to his faith, wife and family. Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Star of The Sea, 30 Mattingly Ave., Indian Head, MD 20640, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made in George’s name to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with local arrangements.
