JAMES EDWARD PARKER STILLIONS, age 89, Hernando, died peacefully on October 16, 2014 at his residence under the care of HPH Hospice. Jim was born on February 23, 1925 in Bloomington, IN to the late Kenneth and Elvira (Parker) Stillions. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII, preparing and serving food for over 300 men three times a day on board LST 48 in the South Pacific. Upon his honorable discharge, he became an executive chef and was eventually one of the owners and managers of Ranch House Restaurants. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering in his shed and of course was known as an excellent cook. He was admired for his love and devotion to family and his willingness to help anyone in need. Jim was a unique and inspiring person and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 70 years, Laurel Stillions, Lecanto, FL; son Randy and his wife Lisa Stillions, Lecanto, FL; daughters: Tammy White, Chewelah, WA, Deb and her husband Jay Greene, Flying Hills, PA and Wendy Stillions, Kennesaw, GA; sisters: Joy Hughes, Pittsboro, IN and Ida Mae Nelson, Handy, IN; grandchildren: Tiffany Tony, Tori Angstadt and Parker Stillions; great-grandchildren: Callie and Lulu Tony. Burial will be private at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family.
