DAN L. BLACK, SR, age 71 of Floral City, FL, died at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County on October 12, 2014. Dan was born on August 13, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Conrad and Josephine (Byroad) Black. After graduating from Martinsville High School in 1961, he served our country in the United States Air Force. Dan was employed as the transmission and distribution supervisor for Florida Power and Light from 1969 to 1991 in Bonita Springs and Naples. He also worked for PSI Energy in Plainfield, IN from 1992 to 1996. He was truly enjoying his retirement by hanging out on the beach or by the pool under his chickee. Dan was a member of the Zion’s Hill Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Sheila Harris Black; his son Dan Black, Jr. of Floral City; daughter Amy Dembinski and husband Nick of Woodbridge, VA; brothers Conrad Black, Jr. and wife Betty of Piggott, AR; Miller Wampler and wife Loretta of Fairland, IN; sister Frances Lucas and husband Bill of Danville, IN; half-sisters Ginni DiRaddo and Cheri Cherghizan of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter Brianna Dembinski. He was proceeded in death by a sister, Donna Sue Matthews, and a brother, John O. Grooms, Jr. A military committal service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery. Chas. E.
