Richard R. Heintzelman, 85, of Inverness, Florida passed away August 28, 2014 at Arbor Trail Health & Rehab Center in Inverness. He was born in Gettysburg, PA on January 25, 1929 to the late Ed and Carrie (Stoner) Heintzelman. Richard was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a Quality Control Manager for the electronics industry. He arrived in this area in 1997, coming from Loveland, CO, and resided in Florida for more than 50 years total. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River, Florida, and was a member of American Legion Post #91 in Cambridge, MD. Richard loved woodcarving and woodburning, and taught both; and was an original surviving member of the Nature Coast Carving Club. During the Sputnik era in the 1960’s, he tracked satellites for the Smithsonian Institute. He enjoyed helping people, was a neighborhood handyman, and was previous owner of Heintzelmans Clock Repair for 12 years, here in Inverness. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Heintzelman. Other survivors include children Donald (Mary Lou) Heintzelman of Woolford, MD, and Catherine Summers aka “Brenda” of Dobbins, CA; one brother, Roy (Phyllis) Heintzelman, and sister-in-law Arlene Heintzelman, all of Gettysburg. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, 10:00 A.M., at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, with graveside services to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
