WILLIAM B. REA “BILL” of Hernando, heard the Lord say “Bill, your life will continue with me on this day of August 1, 2014,” his loving family by his side and caring staff of Hospice of Citrus County. He was born June 23, 1923 in Corona, NY. He proudly served his country in the 3rd Army under Gen. Patton, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Bill was a proud recipient of the Soldiers Medal along with several medals and accommodations. He also served in the Navy as an aviation instructor. After his dedication of service, in 1955 he became an admired Patrolman in Nassau County, NY, earning several awards and meritorious service letters from Police Commissioners. In 1963 he became a distinguished Homicide Detective and also attended college where he earned a degree in Police Science. While Bill enjoyed a good game of golf, the joy of his life was working in his garage where no job was unfixable. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 67 years, Bea of Hernando; three daughters, Barbara and husband Bala of CA, Linda of Beverly Hills, FL, Susan and husband Eric of Lecanto, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, PBA, Det. Assoc., IPA, Elks, K of C and Citrus Hills Country Club. A seamless story of his life painted a picture of a man perfectly happy with his place on earth. A devoted Husband, loving Father, Grandfather and Honorable Veteran who has left much to all of those who were touched by his wit and wisdom. We love you and you will be missed greatly, until we meet again. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions requested to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
