Claude Robert “Bob” Hughes, 94, Dunnellon, FL, passed away June 22, 2014 at the Citrus Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. Mr. Hughes, the youngest of twelve children, was born April 27, 1920 in Kings Mountain, NC to the late William Gordon Hughes and Florence (Wells) Hughes. Bob and his family moved to Florida in 1961.  He was a retired ranch and farm manager who served our country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a long-time deacon at First Baptist Church of Dunnellon and is currently a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Ocala, FL.

Survivors include his wife of 73 Years, Sue (Franklin) Hughes; three children, James Hughes and his wife, Carolyn of Inverness; Buddy Lee Hughes and wife, Wylene of Six Mile, S.C.; Bobbie Sue Brown and husband, Richard of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 28th, 3:00 PM at the Harris Funeral Home of Kings Mountain, NC with Dr. Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm until the hour of service. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
