George R Johnson

GEORGE R. JOHNSON, age 94, Inverness, died June 18, 2014 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. George was born on October 18, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward and Theresa (Mullin) Johnson. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII. George was employed by the City of New York as an marine and aviation auto engineman. He was a member of VFW 4337 and Suncoast Chapter of the DAV. He was very proud of his Irish and Danish heritage. Survivors include sons George (Ellen) Johnson, Hicksville, NY and Gary (Patrice) Johnson, Roseville, CA; daughters Judith (Dave) Wingate, Hernando and Cheryl Johnson, Inverness; brother John Johnson; sisters Delores Rapecis and Lorraine Johnson, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys and siblings Edward, Gerard and Marjorie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Burial will follow with military honors at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will greet friends in visitation from 9:00 AM until the procession forms for the church service at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
