Betty L Shipley

Betty L. Shipley, 84, of Inverness, Florida passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 under the care of Hospice of Citrus County, Lecanto, Florida. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on February 8, 1930 to the late Lester I and Frona (Hunter) Mahan. Betty was a hostess and cashier in the restaurant business, and arrived in this area in 1987, coming from St. Petersburg, Florida. She attended Redemption Christian Church in Inverness and enjoyed yard work and gardening, reading, loved watching birds, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Melvin L. Shipley. Other survivors include sons Larry (Elizabeth) Lovan of Anderson, SC, and Robbie Lovan of St. Petersburg, FL., 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children, 14 step grandchildren, and 24 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings Dale, Edward, and Barbara. Private cremation arrangements by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
