JOHN I. FARGEN, age 86, St. Petersburg, died April 29, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. John was born on January 27, 1928 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Viola (Boardman) Fargen. John served our country in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was a prison guard for the State of Florida Department of Corrections for over 20 years in Hernando County. During his adulthood, he lived in Brooksville and retired to the same neighborhood as in his youth in St. Petersburg. After his retirement, he volunteered three days a week helping pack meal boxes for delivery in St. Petersburg for Neighborly Services. Left to cherish his memory is his son Jeffrey Fargen, St. Petersburg; daughters Sue LaRocca, Tampa and Sybil Markam, Crystal River, ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by the many long time neighbors and friends he made through the years from Neighborly Services. Inurnment will be at Stage Pond Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Alma Sue, who preceded him in death in 1996 after 44 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his brother Gilbert Fargen and sister Mary Leins. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is in charge of private arrangements.
