Jimmy Dale Workman, 69, of Inverness, Florida passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 9, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa to the late Dale and Doris (Dideriksen) Workman. Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a Maintenance Safety Inspector for CITGO Petroleum Corp.. He arrived in this area in 1999, coming from Lockport, Illinois. He was a member of Gulf to Lake Baptist Church, and loved all sports including bowling, golfing, fishing, and especially his dog “Dewey”. While in high school, he was a track runner, and later, coached little league baseball. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gail Workman. Other survivors include sons Jimmy (April) Workman, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jason (and companion Regan Becker) Workman of Seattle, Washington, and Joel (Shannon) Workman of Joliet, Illinois; brothers Jeff Workman and John Workman; and 2 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Workman. The family will be receiving friends at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory on Tuesday, April 15, 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., with a funeral service at 12:00 P.M. Burial with military honors will occur at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Jimmy’s name to either the ALS Association, Florida Chapter, or Hospice of Citrus County.
