Violet L. Baird, 92, Floral City, died March 12, 2014 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mrs Baird was born on June 22, 1921 in Salem, IN to the late Silas and Clara (Guthrie) Zink and moved to this area in 1969 from Tampa. She and her late husband, Clifton, founded the Baird Home Corporation. He preceded her in death Dec 12, 2011. They were married for 74 years. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City.
Violet is survived by her three children, Ernie Baird and his wife, Carolyn of Salem, IN; Kenny Baird and his wife, Nancy of Muskogee, OK; Jeanie Humphrey and her husband, Dean of Fruitland Park, FL; 15 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Wichman.
Friends may call at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 4-6pm. Additional services and burial will follow on Wednesday from the Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, IN. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted by the First Baptist Church of Floral City.
