ANNE M. WHITING, of Inverness, FL passed away February 24, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Norfolk, VA in 1922 to the late Surry W. and Lillie W. Kight, the second of five children. Anne graduated from Maury High School in 1938. She was married to Raymond B. Newton until his death in World War II aboard the USS Escolar. They had two sons. She later married Robert L. “Bo” Simpson. They had one son and were married for 49 years until Bo’s death. In 1998 she married Ivan M. Whiting of Inverness, FL. Anne spent her working career at Norfolk Shipbuilding and Dry Dock. She was an expert crafter who loved the beach, her family and sharing her faith. In addition to her parents and first two husbands, Anne was preceded in death by her brothers William “Bill” and Leonard “Len” Kight. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Ivan; her three sons Raymond Newton (Laura), Ken Newton (Cathey) and Robert Simpson (Amber); her sister Evelyn Wilson and her brother Robert Kight (Jeane); eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. May the Circle be unbroken. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
