JEWEL HARDY (BUDDY) DUNAWAY, Sr., age 74, Homosassa, died December 16, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Buddy was born on August 24, 1939 in Warnerton, LA to the late Ira and Lily (Ratliff) Dunaway. He served our country in the United States Coast Guard and was employed as a foreman in the building and maintenance department for the City of Pinellas Park, retiring after 15 years of service. Buddy was a 35-year member of the American Legion Post #104 in Pinellas Park. He enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. Buddy was an outgoing man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling to art shows with his wife. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Constance (Connie) Dunaway; three sons Jewel (Buddy) Dunaway, Jr. (Kimberly), Saucier, MS, George Bernier, Hudson, FL, James Bruce, Pinellas Park, FL, four daughters; Darlene (Terry) Qualls, Weaver, AL, Sue MacQuarrie (Mark) Edmond, OK, Carla Eidson, Griffin, GA, Paula Palmer (Robert) Homosassa; his brother Doyle Dunnaway (Marjorie) Vancleve, MS; sisters Navalou Rose, Biloxi, MS, Juanice Belcher (Curtis) Woolmarket, MS, Juanita Tyner (Ed) Diberville, MS; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Michelle Bernier, a brother Dewey and sister Dorothy Sieb. A graveside military service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory at 1:15 to form the procession to the cemetery.
