James A Gilbert

JAMES ALEXANDER GILBERT, age 59, Floral City, also known as “Jim”, “Jimmy” and “Gilley” to his friends and family passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County after a very painful illness of four months. Jim was born on August 10, 1954 to James A. and Helen J. (Crippen) Gilbert in Rochester, NY. He came to Floral City 30 years ago from Fort Worth, TX to be near his parents. He worked in the construction industry his entire life. He was most proud of his work with C&G Seamless Gutters the last ten years. Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest; he enjoyed his many friends and his membership at the IRRU Club. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, woodworking and music. He never had any of his own children, but loved all the little children in his life and they loved to be with him. He had two God-children, Dyamond and Dalton and when they moved to Maine, it broke his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, James and Helen Gilbert, his sister Linda VanKouwenberg and 2 nieces, Stacy and Katie VanKouwenberg, all of Rochester, NY. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 or Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund in Jim\’s memory, 1880 N. Trucks Ave., Hernando, FL, 34442.
