JOAN ELAINE BALLOU, age 75, died October 1, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Joan was born on December 28, 1937 in Wilmington, VT to the late Walter and Jeannette (Johnson) Collins. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Joan will be missed by all who knew her. She was a substance abuse counselor and was very passionate about her job and her patients. As a younger woman, she was a powder puff stock car driver at the Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH. She enjoyed crocheting and her work as a Lady Shriner with their charitable causes. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Benjamin Creamer, Jr. and Timothy H. Creamer, both of NH, daughter, Mona E. Ballou, TX; brother Richard Farnum, Jr. (Linda), VT and sisters Caroline Kontos, NH and Patricia Hemingway (Earl) VT; grandchildren Benjamin III, Quinn, Kelsey, Ryan, Nathaniel and Paige. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivah Willard Ballou in 1993 , a brother Leland and sister Jane. A celebration tribute to Joan’s life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory.
