ROBERT LELAND HORTON, Jr., age 66, went to be with his Lord on September 6, 2013. Robert was born on November 15, 1946 in Gloversville, NY to Robert L. Horton, Sr. and Doris K. (Hutton) Horton. Robert served in law enforcement his entire working career, in the Brooksville Police Department, with Citrus County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years and retired from Coconut Creek Sheriff’s Office as a detective. A man who loved the Lord, he was active in Cornerstone Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching sports, NASCAR races, enjoyed boating and reading; he was especially proud of being able to master his Kindle. Left to cherish his memory are sons Robert L. Horton, III, Floral City and Timothy Horton, Inverness; his daughter Melissa Ann Hamilton (David), Floral City; former spouse Bonnie, Inverness; his mother Doris Horton, his brother Terry Horton (Robin) and sisters Nadena White and Debra Root (Douglas) all of Gloversville, NY, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Horton, Sr and a brother, Todd. . A tribute and celebration of Robert\’s life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Kell officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Donations in Robert\’s memory are requested to the Florida Sheriff\’s Youth Ranch, Boys Ranch, FL 32060 in lieu of flowers. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
