Fred D Rampey

On 29 May, 2013, Fred Rampey, 83, transferred his citizenship from this earth to Heaven.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Davenport Rampey, and one Son, Fred Rampey, Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO, his wife, Cindy, and two grandchildren, Erin and Tyler Rampey.
 
Mr. Rampey was born in Piedmont, SC. He was a member of a family of 13 children.  He was predeceased by his parents, John Samuel Rampey and Marion Major Rampey. He is survived by four brothers; Joe, Marshall, Paul, and Robert Rampey and one sister, Doris Higgins.  He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War.  After receiving a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1958, he accepted a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority at Chattanooga. At TVA he served in various positions:  Section Supervisor, Chief of Transmission Planning Branch, Assistant Director of Transmission Planning & Engineering, and Project Manager of Transmission Engineering.  He retired from TVA in 1988.  In Chattanooga they attended the First Church of the Nazarene.  He served on the Church Board and taught a Sunday School Class, and he and Betty went on mission trips to Brazil, Ecuador, and Mexico.
 
Mr. Rampey and Betty moved to Citrus County, Florida in 1997, where they have been active in the Hernando Church of the Nazarene.  There he served on the Church Board and taught Sunday School Class.
 
Memorial services will be held on 7 June, 11 AM, at the Hernando Church of the Nazarene, Hernando, Florida.  Memorial gifts may be made to the building fund of the Hernando Church of the Nazarene. Services will also be held on 4 June in Piedmont, SC, directed by McAfee Funeral Home. Chas E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory
